Comedy Central – Hilary Clinton accidentally offends Democrats with questionable comments about her opponent Bernie Sanders, former First Lady Nancy Reagan and the coal industry.
First off, offending Democrats is the easiest thing to do on earth. Liberals are as thin-skinned as they come. Not in a Donald Trump, ‘I am insecure and need to lash out with insults’ way, but in a Sean Penn, ‘I am overly emotional and going to tell you how insensitive you are and how I feel’ type of way… which is the WORST kind of thin-skinned.
Honestly though, these type of gaffes for Hilary Clinton are really bad. This is the fodder that anti-Clinton activists devour and can ultimately give Donald Trump a leg up in an general election. Now I know Donald says things MUCH worse and way MORE often. But we know why Donald says it – he is a moron who doesn’t even know how to discern fact and fiction on the internet. Hilary doesn’t have that luxury because she was former Secretary of State. She is also the Queen of pre-mediated political responses which means she is expected to say the “politically correct” thing. This Trump-Clinton political dynamic is sort of like a 4-year old and an artist with a coloring book. You expect the 4-year old to scribble outside of the lines, that is normal 4-year old behavior. However, if a professional artist goes ham on a coloring book, you are going to think that artist probably shouldn’t be painting pictures anytime soon.
Unfortunately, that’s what we are dealing with this Presidential election – a 4-year old and a shitty artist. Who knows, maybe this is the year a 3rd party candidate like Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party might make a run. He would likely just steal Republican votes away and guarantee a Clinton presidency. That being said, If Clinton keeps battling Donald Trump for the stupid comment of the week, we could have ourselves a real barn burner!
Personally, I agree what they say matters and is important. However, I am way more concerned about their policy proposals than whethery they “mispoke” about Nancy Reagan’s stance on AIDS in the 1980s.
